Aulonakara bensha is a popular aquarium fish from the cichlid family.
The males of this fish have a very beautiful color: a bright yellow body with several vertical purple stripes and purple or blue lips.
Females are colored dark brown with dark stripes.
Their size, as a rule, does not exceed 12 cm.
This is a fairly unpretentious fish. Almost all live and frozen foods and their substitutes are suitable for her. Plants such as hygrophils and limnophiles, whose leaves can also serve as food, are often planted in aquariums.
Maintenance and care
To keep these fish, you need to choose a fairly large aquarium, not less than a meter long. It is worth knowing that, despite their unpretentiousness, they are very sensitive to cleanliness. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully remove food debris and waste products, as well as weekly change 30% of the water. In addition, the aquarium requires good filtration and aeration.
At the age of 9-10 months, puberty occurs. For spawning, you can buy a separate small aquarium, or you can use a common one. However, there must necessarily be several shelters and a flat stone for caviar. The fry appear on about 20 days.
