Marble Abramites (Abramites hypselonotus) - the family is anostomous or narrow-necked (Anostomidae).
Fish from the southern latitudes: homeland - South America. Striped color: gray background, vertical, almost black, stripes, females are paler than males. Abramites swims at an angle of approximately 40 ° to the ground. Fry is kept in a common aquarium. Adult fish can be aggressive, often jump out of the water, it is necessary to cover the aquarium.
Females lay three hundred to five hundred eggs.
Food: seaweed, freeze-dried peas, vegetable flakes and lettuce, live food (one fifth of the total mass).
Maintenance and care
Aquarium from 150 l, good water filtration, lighting. The aquarium should be filled with stones and snags, hard plants. Water temperature: 24 - 28 °. Water of medium hardness.
Individuals ripen in 2 - 3 years, producers are planted, well fed. Fish breed in special aquariums for spawning with a volume of 12 liters or more. Soil - peat with sand and activated carbon. Water needs salted. Three to four females and one male are planted for spawning. The period of development of eggs is from 10 to 24 days. The appeared fry are fed with “live” food.
